Rib Injury Much More Serious Than Originally Believed

Wow – VERY BAD news for Steeler Nation. Big Ben is known for his ability to play through anything! He’s come back at times when no one thought it possible – broken nose, broken foot, sprained ankle, broken thumb (and still passed well)…. the list goes on and on. This time, however, this injury is actually life threatening. One wrong hit and his rib could affect his aorta and he could actually die – according to numerous source (see articles below).

While we are always hoping the best for the Steelers, in this case we are truly hoping Ben recovers quickly not just for the team’s sake, but for HIS sake!

How Far Can Steelers Go Without Big Ben?

The Kansas City Chiefs came into Heinz Field with only one win all season. They looked more like a championship contending team once the game started.

The Chiefs took the Steelers into overtime, when Tomlin must have given the defense some strong encouragement….. Keisel tipped a Matt Cassell pass and Lawrence Timmons then intercepted and ran back to the Chiefs 5 yard line.

The Steelers wasted no time and brought in Shawn Suisham to kick the game winning field goal.

The Steelers won, but suffered a big loss.

Ben Roethlisberger had to leave the game when sandwiched between two Chief defenders. Early reports have indicated a sprained shoulder, but no further details have been announced as to the severity.

The timing could not be worse. The Steelers play arch-rival Baltimore the next two games and the division winner will likely come out of the results of these games.

Steelers are Injured, but Are Still Favorites vs. the Broncos

The Pittsburgh Steelers may be bruised and battered, but it seems that everyone is considering them to be one of the favorites to make it all the way back to the Superbowl.

Mendenhall is out…. Aaron Smith has been out since week #4…. Pouncey is out for the Broncos…… Polamalu has a bad calf but is expected to play.
