Petition for Hines Ward Day – Sept 16, 2012

Steeler Fans Need Signatures To Make Hines Ward Day!

There is a petition that has been started to make the first game of 2012 to be known as Hines Ward Day.   The petition is to Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Mr. Art Rooney II.   The petition needs 1,000 signatures and as of this writing are half way there.

If you would like to see Hines Ward sent off in a respectful manner after all he has done for the Steeler organization and fans everywhere, then make sure to sign the petition by clicking on the link below.

Here is an exerpt from the petition…..

We believe Steelers Nation deserves to be able to properly send Hines Ward off into football retirement in style, the Steelers way. Loud and proud, the fans wearing the number 86 jersey in honor of Hines’ 14 years of incredible loyalty and play for The Pittsburgh Steelers. We would like to therefore propose that the first home game of the season, September 16, 2012 should be proclaimed “Hines Ward Day” in the City of Pittsburgh and at Heinz Field. A celebration of Hines Ward’s career in Pittsburgh.

Not only is Hines Ward one of the greatest wide receivers ever, and not just of the Steelers, he created a whole new role for the wide receiver, and is known for his tackles as much as his receptions. He earned three team MVP awards, was sent to four consecutive Pro Bowls and holds two Super Bowl rings. He was also named the MVP for Super Bowl 40. Hines Ward holds the Pittsburgh Steelers all-time records for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, and is one of only eight receivers in NFL history to reach 1,000 career receptions. And let’s not forget the 12,000 yards…….
